Quite possibly one, if not the funniest offensive movies of all time! (Well, unless it’s cut up and edited for normal TV then it’s the worst edited and cut up movie of all time…It never gets old! If you are offended…So be it…Mel Brooks is a comedic genius! The famous Richard Pryor helped write the scrip and oversaw the use of the “N” word too! You can’t beat a good fart/radical racial/ white bread/black country cowboy/ and gay fight movie all rolled up into one! We gotta build that railroad!
chuck
from EW’s interview with Mel Brooks Richard Pryor helped write the script, and you wanted him to play the sheriff, Bart. What did he bring to the film? I was so lucky to get him, because he’s just funny in every way. He made a profound contribution to that script. He gave me some really beautiful 126th Street, St. Nicholas Ave. [Harlem] lines. I quit for three days because Warner Bros. wouldn’t [let me cast] Richard as Black Bart. Richard came over and said, “If I was the black sheriff, I could pass for Cuban because I’m coffee-colored. Now, this guy Cleavon Little: He’s classy, he has poise, and he’s really charming. But he’s black as coal. He will scare the s - - - out of them.” I said, “Okay, I’m coming back.”

Welcome to Kick Acts. Tell us a little about yourself and were you can be found online.

Who are your musical heroes and influences? Why?
So many and it’s changing all the time, cos I listened to music all day, every day. We just finished a month long tour and I feel like I channel my favourite live artists at time, which is different than my favourite artists on tape. Live, I feel like a cross between Prince, Marilyn Manson and Danny Brown. On record, I’m listening to Kendrick Lamar’s older record, Section 80, as well as the HAIM record. Diggin into that new Foster The People LP, and I love the hardcore band Trash Talk.
Do you have any advice for someone just getting started in the music business?
Don’t do it. Too many rappers, not enough MCs.
What piece of advice did you ignore that you wish you hadn’t?
Going to Hard Rock Cafe right before playing that show in Toronto. Comatose. Shout out Based God.
Do you have a greatest gig story or worst gig horror story you’d like to share?
Back in the day we played a gig in London, and it was Christina Aguilera’s after party, and her and her people hated our (at the time) abrasive, wacky music so much their security guards just started taking all our equipment out of the building while we were still playing. It was awesome. Her dancers were wearing assless pants. Those men had dimple bottoms.
Do you have any other hobbies other than playing music? Collect stamps? Collect hats from off the side of the road? Draw pictures of peckers or boobs? Make sock puppets? Sit in the dark and eat Cheetos?
I’ve personally never drawn a dick, and I plan on never taking the plunge. I’m essentially the exact opposite of Jonah Hill. I produce music for other people on my time off. I also collect shoes and vintage NBA basketball jerseys. For a goth, I sure wear a lot of sporting goods.
What do you think about the current music scene or lack of? Care to address that?
There’s lots of good stuff. I like these new rappers that are coming out, although I’m racist towards white rappers. I think Machine Gun Kelly sucked because he’s white then I actually heard him and realized he’s incredible. I thought he was just gonna be Diddy’s way of capitalizing on Mac Miller’s success but I was wrong as fuck. I can be a fuckin idiot sometimes…with weird hair.
Do you think reality shows like American Idol, X Factor and The Voice have helped or hurt the music industry as a whole?
My friend Carly Jepsen got a boost from one of those, and then did a big song on her own, so that’s my only experience with them. I only like those shows at the beginning of the season when all the raisin cakes come out to perform.
What is your opinion of unauthorized music downloads?
You better have a good live show, babies!
Tell us something about you/each of your band members that we wouldn’t expect to hear.
I’m part Japanese, Tony was in Hot Tub Time Machine, Louis was in Freddy Got Fingered, Jason wears moccasins all the damn time.
Hypothetical situation. You’re on Gilligan’s Island and you get to hook up with only one of the survivors… Which one and why?
The captain. Just to fuck with Ginger and Mary Ann’s heads. No woman will ever control me.
Do you know what a vinyl album is and have your ever purchased one? If so, what was it?
Tons. Stuff I’ve produced is on vinyl and I own that, and I buy records all the time. I love my Rick James – STREET SONGS record.
You’re marooned on an island with Justin Bieber. Do you choke him out the first night in his sleep or what?
I don’t hate him. He’s friends of friends.
What is your opinion of Miley Cyrus?
Kat Von D introduced me to her a few months ago, and I hung out with her while she got a tattoo of her grandmother on her wrist. We were wearing almost the same outfit and we complimented each other’s style a lot. I got along really well with her and like her a lot.
Which would you rather hear in concert? Lip-synching or real vocals?
Real vocals, while the singer keeps their mouth shut, so…ventriloquism.
Who, or what, is the next big thing?
The singer whose album I just produced a big chunk of. Her name’s Kate Kurdyak and she’s brilliant.
One artist you can’t get enough of and can’t live without is… Why?
Tyler, the Creator. Best videos in the game.
Confession time. Share a secret about yourself.
I think I’m black.
Favorite movie of all time and why?
Right now it’s Big Lebowski. There’s about 3 jokes a minute. It’s incredible.
Our last question is called “Shout It Out Loud”. It’s where you get to talk about whatever you want to talk about. So go ahead and “SHOUT IT OUT LOUD”!
If you clone yourself, and have sex with your clone, are you masturbating or is it incest? Either way, I could finally go fuck myself when someone tells me to. Thank you for the nice interview!

Many of you that know me know that I am a very outspoken person. At times it has been detrimental to my intentions but none the less , as they say, that’s how I roll. LOL! I have been, over the past several months, working relentlessly to open a Bar & Entertainment Venue in the location where myself and my wife Nancy ran a clothing store (Cool Flea) at 124 N. Elm Street. Over the past several months I have found myself, and not by choice I might add, forced to deal with issu…es, in regards to local business classifications, regulations, laws and codes that can have a huge effect on the outcome. During this period I have had discussions with many of you who have strongly voiced your opinions about “what downtown Henderson needs” Opinions …….. well ……we all know what they say about opinions, everybody has one. Currently there are committee meetings, workshops, discussions and advisory boards created that claim their purpose is to address “what downtown Henderson needs” but the message I am hearing is more to the tone that certain individuals believe it is ” what Henderson doesn’t need or better yet won’t permit ” I am in no way standing on this soap box to criticize , point a finger or even disagree with the actions being taken by our elected officials , and the operative word here is ELECTED, officials…… I am however encouraging each and every one of you, my friends, family and fellow business associates to make your opinions be heard! Attend the commissioners meetings, talk to your local officials, become active in the community, keep abreast …. Ha! I’m not even sure I know what that means..LMAO! ,of the local news and make it a point to be aware of the decisions being made and how they will effect you and your family. You can start by attending an impromptu workshop held by the Henderson Planning Commission today at 4:30 on the third floor of the City Building. I know this is a short notice but there will be many other opportunities for you to become involved and I encourage you to do so! Folks this is 2014. It’s time to put “Leave It To Beaver” to rest. “It is easy to stand up and take notice. It is harder to stand up and take action” My apologies for the rant …… well actually ….not really…..as I said……That’s just how I roll…..PEACE! Everyone have a GREAT day!

Ouch…I get totally bummed out if a bar I am playing in isn’t packed out or if people aren’t interested. I couldn’t imagine being on top of the hill back in the 80’s and now playing for 40 people in an empty arena. The original article says “Karma Continues” but I won’t go there. I think its more of the sad State America is in with live bands. They just don’t care anymore. Metal still rules overseas. Maybe we should all just move over there?

Welcome to Kick Acts. Tell us a little about yourself and were you can be
found online.
Tim King from the band SOiL. I play bass. All things Soil can be found at:
www.soiltheband.com <http://www.soiltheband.com>*
www.facebook.com/soilmusic <http://www.facebook.com/soilmusic>*
Who are your musical heroes and influences? Why?
Nikki Sixx made me wanna play bass.I loved his look and attitude. Also
loved his business sense.
As for other bass heroes I like Dave Ellefson from Megadeth. Great player. Duff McCagan from GNR. Another highly underrated player. Love John Patitucci. He is prolly my favorite technical player hands down.
Do you have any advice for someone just getting started in the music
business?
Yes. Give it all you have. If you don’t want to sacrifice everything to
make it and I mean EVERYTHING (family, relationships, children, weddings
funerals, jobs, house, car, etc) then just do it as a hobby, beause you
won’t make it in this business otherwise. Well unless you are rich to begin
with.
What piece of advice did you ignore that you wish you hadn’t?
There are certain tours and events we should have participated on early in
our career which we passed on. That prolly was a mistake.
Do you have a greatest gig story or worst gig horror story you’d like to
share?
The greatest was definitely a London gig in 2011 with Ryan back in the
band. Our first gig with him back in almost seven years. I just felt
alive again. I felt like I was proud again.
Do you have any other hobbies other than playing music? Collect stamps?
Collect hats from off the side of the road? Draw pictures of peckers or
boobs? Make sock puppets? Sit in the dark and eat Cheetos?
I love salt water aquariums. I have two reef tanks and I am kind of a
total fish nerd when it comes to studying coral growth and lighting
techniques. It keeps me away from worrying about music 24/7.
What do you think about the current music scene or lack of? Care to
address that?
I feel sorry for the new bands the most. They will never get to feel what
it is like to be “wined and dined”. The days of excess are over. It’s all
bare bones these days. It’s so tough to sell records these days and
technology is killing everything. Streaming on spotify and pandora is
killing the sale of songs and albums.
Do you think reality shows like American Idol, X factor and The Voice have
helped or hurt the music industry as a whole?
I think they just kinda make a mockery out of the business. They laugh
and mock the people that have no business even being on TV cause they suck
so bad and then they take the real talent and brutalize them into
competitions.
What is your opinion of unauthorized music downloads?
It’s killing everything we do. It’s hard enough to sell music to people,
let alone do it when a click away you can get it before streetdate.
Hypothetical situation. You’re on Gilligan’s island and you get to hook up
with only one of the survivors… Which one and why?
Both Ginger and Mary Ann of course. Mr Howel can watch.
hahahahahahahahahaha
Do you know what a vinyl album is and have your ever purchased one? If so,
what was it?
Yes of course. I own plenty of it. In fact our new Soil album “whole” is
out on vinyl. My favorite was the gatefold Motley Crue “shout at the devil”
LP. Looks so bad ass.
You’re marooned on an island with Justin Bieber. Do you choke him out the
first night in his sleep or what?
Hell no. I just found my new butler.
What is your opinion of Miley Cyrus?
She’s cool. Very talented. Can’t take that away from her. She deserves
credit.
Which would you rather hear in concert? Lip synching or real vocals?
If you can’t play your instrument, you have no business being on stage.
period!
Who, or what, is the next big thing?
Who the hell knows. It could be a bunch of clowns playing the skin flute
for all I know, and it prolly will be.
One artist you can’t get enough of and can’t live without is…
Motley Crue of course…..my favorite band of all time.
Confession time. Share a secret about yourself.
My new guilty pleasure is the tv show “2 broke girls”
Favorite movie of all time and why.
The Warriors. Just something about that movie that is so bad ass. I always
wanted to run a street gang.
Our last question is called “Shout It Out Loud”. It’s were you get to talk
about whatever you want to talk about. So go ahead and “SHOUT IT OUT LOUD”!
Well since that is also a KISS song, I’d like to express how tired I am of
hearing all the back and forth bickering from the original 4 members. WHO
GIVES A FUCK!!!!!!!!!
Tim

This is a LOOOONG way from “Sk8er Boi”…Not to mention the “hat tip” to Styx from Mr. Roboto…Not the same phrase I know but it had to come from there. But if you like JaPop, this is for you.
