An open letter to the protesting…
Please help me understand something here… You preach acceptance, and tolerance. It’s your “Cause”. It’s what you believe in.Absolutely nothing wrong with that. But when someone doesn’t accept you for what you are, you go into hate mode. Take for instance the “Chick fil A” issue. The President of that company simple expressed his opinions on Gay marriage and what happened? A huge back lash against the company with Boycott’s, emails, threats, protests and other “intolerable” acts. Why can’t you just accept it and move on? Is everyone’s acceptance that important to you? And in reality, you can’t accept his opinion but you’re trying to force him and his Company to accept yours, so who wins here? Who’s right and who’s wrong?
Look, I don’t care if you are gay, straight, bi, transgendered, or anything else for that matter and why would you label yourself something anyway. That’s a form of self separation too… But for a group that seems always in your face to accept you or your gonna regret it, that’s not fair to the rest of us. In life, not everyone is ok with everyone and everything…It’s just how it is. “So what” if someone’s opinion doesn’t agree with your way of thinking? Don’t act like a spoilt brat that’s not getting his or her way and scream at the top of your lungs and throw things around until you force someone to change. That’s not winning people over. That my friend is “BULLYING”.

The “target” according to what I read in the news and all over Facebook is “Chick Fil A”..So what does that make you…? The “Bully”.

Don’t hate on me… I accept people for what they are or aren’t. I don’t care about your bedroom preference. In reality no one should care about yours or mine or be defined by it, or yet, define themselves by it…How bout we’re all humans instead. But for those that do define it by that, just accept it and go on. What is that old saying? Like water off a ducks back?
If you don’t like what the President of Chick Fil A said and you feel like not spending your money there… That’s fine. But to turn this into a shouting down match of everyone that doesn’t agree with you is pointless and really shows the rest of the world (those that don’t accept your lifestyle or preferences) how little you really are for “acceptance and tolerance”. It’s the old “repent or die” mentally just with a different approach this time around.
You really want to make a difference? How about forgiveness and love toward those that don’t accept you instead…Win them over with kindness.

Otto the Comic is back! With his own Blog! And he has….

Damn, no one wants to hear that. As you remember I interviewed Otto a few months ago and he contributed to Kickacts with his own brand of humor and style which I found enlightening and refreshing. He is someone that looks at life differently than most of us. He shared with us about his favorite childhood bike memories and what he needed if he was stranded on an island among other things. And he also included his favorite family pizza crust recipe.
Otto did what many of us wish we had the balls to do at any age. He quit his job to become a full time Comedian. No longer settling for doing it on the side and keeping his day job…So he did what his heart really desired to do. He was all in. WE only get one shot at life anyway and how many of us live it without really “living”? Most of us including me get up and go to jobs and lives we hate everyday… I think Sting said it so true in song ” Synchronicity”,
Another working day has ended
Only the rush hour hell to face
Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes
Contestants in a suicidal race
Daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance
He knows that something somewhere has to break
So Otto did it. That’s a stand up guy in anyone’s book. He didn’t walk out on his family or anything like that. He made his money in the restaurant business and now it’s his turn. Doing what he wants to do and doing well with it…
Then came the “c” word… And as he says ” I guess I’m in the system now”… not making light of it but we each deal with things differently. Otto goes on to say, “I hope to give a different side of the cancer treatment story .. so far the “industry ” is super evil… i don’t want to offend anyone who has cancer, it’s bad enough just having it …”
He also hasn’t stop performing. He’s not gonna let him get down.
So a long with his comedic sense of humor he is also dealing with Doctors’ wanting to cut on him, no air conditioner in his car and recently a gig with a Burlesque variety show. How hard can that be? Let Otto tell you himself. You won’t be disappointed. He started his own blog. In his own comedic sense he is sharing his thoughts, concerns, and his shows. So go with him on his journey. Share the ride. Laugh with him, and let him encourage you. Encourage him also, we all are human and could use it from time to time.

QUEENSRŸCHE members Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield and Parker Lundgren announced on June 20 that they were parting ways with singer Geoff Tate and recruiting powerhouse vocalist Todd La Torre of CRIMSON GLORY as his replacement. The new QUEENSRŸCHE lineup has already performed live, having played two shows in their home city of Seattle under the name RISING WEST.

Ok fellow musicians, when is enough, enough?

You have played your entire life but have grown weary of the never ending starting and stopping of bands and band attempts…The in between bands and everything thing else associated with this business…Maybe you are like me and was in a road band too for some time …we did it for almost five years..That was 8 years ago when that stopped…I haven’t been able to find anyone or enough people to try it again…Why? I guess the older we all get the harder it is to commit to something like that. My kids are grown so it’s easier for me to. I don’t know how you feel about it but I was never one to be satisfied just playing local bars and clubs. Have I done it? Oh yea, a bunch, I am not arrogant to think I am better than playing those types of places I just wanted more… I have played in dives and nice places and had good times but I always wanted more… It was never enough….an evil drug I always say…
I will play anywhere anytime but I always wanted more….huge stages, not fame and fortune or rock star status…That’s all fleeting…I just wanted to play and make a decent living out of it…
So here I am…46. Still have the “look” I guess? I go to blabbermouth.com and see all the older bands on that site. They all have the tired hair and big gut look. Not my idea of a “rock star” but they are older and some probably way older than me… They too were probably “metal heads” in the 80’s. Hanging on, mid level bands at best but doing what they love to do so is it fulfilling? I dunno…I am at a loss here… Music, it’s all I have ever cared about other than my family…I was never content with what I have done or accomplished which in the music business is not much. But here I stand at the cliff edge. Do I jump or do I throw my guitars over the edge and say fuck it…not a bad run but not what I tried so hard to achieve…
I am not looking for sympathy here. Just honest questions. What do you do when all you know to do is what you want to do but not doing do it? I don’t want to be the tired looking old fat guy that stayed too long at the dance but damn I don’t want to quit either…

Glen Campbell review Evansville Indiana 06/09/2012

Glen Campbell…What can you say about him? He is An American Legend. A musician. An Icon. An Actor. And, a man that is dealing with the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.
With the public announcement a few months ago that he is suffering from this he decided to embark on his Goodbye tour. You got to hand to it to him. He could stay home and let this debilitating disease slowly rob him and his family like so many others but instead he is taking it out on the road. Therapeutic? Of course it has to be. Plus if I had to guess, it has to be comforting to do what you know what to do in times of duress. His is to play music.
So on June 8th he rolled into Evansville Indiana at the Aiken Center. I have, like a lot of people my age and older grew up on Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Reed just to name a few and all the variety shows that have long gone away and really should be brought back. Back when the whole family could sit around the television and watch the same programs and the parents didn’t have to worry about what was seen or heard.
Back to the Concert, first off. I only found out about it one day out of the blue by looking up his tour dates and saw where he was making a stop in Evansville. I usually am a radio scanner, meaning if I don’t like the song on the radio I hit the scan button and Read more…
