Otto the Comic is back! With his own Blog! And he has….

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

cancer...otto

Damn, no one wants to hear that. As you remember I interviewed Otto a few months ago and he contributed to Kickacts with his own brand of humor and style which I found enlightening and refreshing. He is someone that looks at life differently than most of us. He shared with us about his favorite childhood bike memories and what he needed if he was stranded on an island among other things. And he also included his favorite family pizza crust recipe.

Otto did what many of us wish we had the balls to do at any age. He quit his job to become a full time Comedian. No longer settling for doing it on the side and keeping his day job…So he did what his heart really desired to do. He was all in. WE only get one shot at life anyway and how many of us live it without really “living”? Most of us including me get up and go to jobs and lives we hate everyday… I think Sting said it so true in song ” Synchronicity”,

Another working day has ended
Only the rush hour hell to face
Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes
Contestants in a suicidal race
Daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance
He knows that something somewhere has to break

So Otto did it. That’s a stand up guy in anyone’s book. He didn’t walk out on his family or anything like that. He made his money in the restaurant business and now it’s his turn. Doing what he wants to do and doing well with it…

Then came the “c” word… And as he says ” I guess I’m in the system now”… not making light of it but we each deal with things differently. Otto goes on to say, “I hope to give a different side of the cancer treatment story .. so far the “industry ” is super evil… i don’t want to offend anyone who has cancer, it’s bad enough just having it …”

He also hasn’t stop performing. He’s not gonna let him get down.

otto

So a long with his comedic sense of humor he is also dealing with Doctors’ wanting to cut on him, no air conditioner in his car and recently a gig with a Burlesque variety show. How hard can that be? Let Otto tell you himself. You won’t be disappointed. He started his own blog. In his own comedic sense he is sharing his thoughts, concerns, and his shows. So go with him on his journey. Share the ride. Laugh with him, and let him encourage you. Encourage him also, we all are human and could use it from time to time.

Here is the link to his blog  OTTO otto

Here is OTTO’s Facebook page here!

KISS’s new song “Hell or Hallelujah”

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

I think it sounds a little like “All American Man” but I can’t complain. They are still kicking the critics to the curb 30 years on.

QUEEN live with Adam Lambert 06/30/2012

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

I am still on the fence about Adam singing for them. While watching the video sometimes it seems like Adam is just phoning in the vocals or he is taking QUEEN as a classic rock band and not the power house band they are… I think George Micheal would be a great fit but he seems to unstable…. Maybe Adam just doesn’t need to act so much like a Diva?Opinions?

Here’s the entire 2 hour concert. Well worth the watch. Roger Taylor comes out from behind the drums and sings and does a great job!

Gotta say Hell yea! To Bruce Dickinson!

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

HE gets it! The inner child forever rocking and screw the world!

Dickinson said, “Mature our image? Why? Inside this 53-year-old exterior — 54 in August — is a 17-year-old. Actually, probably mental age, probably slightly younger. But that’s the core of why you do this thing. When you’re a kid and you experience something that makes you feel, ‘Wow, walking on air.’ The first song you write, the first experiences, you have to ringfence those and guard them against what I can describe as the cynicism of the world, because the world eats into people and destroys those hopes and those dreams and things like that. And it’s those things that people call childish, those are the things, actually, that motivate us and that keeps our creativity precious; that’s what’s inside people, and they lose it at their peril. I’ve seen people that have lost it, and it’s really sad.

Glen Campbell review Evansville Indiana 06/09/2012

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

glen campbellGlen Campbell…What can you say about him? He is An American Legend. A musician. An Icon. An Actor.  And, a man that is dealing with the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.

With the public announcement a few months ago that he is suffering from this he decided to embark on his Goodbye tour. You got to hand to it to him. He could stay home and let this debilitating disease slowly rob him and his family like so many others but instead he is taking it out on the road. Therapeutic? Of course it has to be. Plus if I had to guess, it has to be comforting to do what you know what to do in times of duress. His is to play music.

So on June 8th he rolled into Evansville Indiana at the Aiken Center. I have, like a lot of people my age and older grew up on Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Reed just to name a few and all the variety shows that have long gone away and really should be brought back. Back when the whole family could sit around the television and watch the same programs and the parents didn’t have to worry about what was seen or heard.

Back to the Concert, first off. I only found out about it one day out of the blue by looking up his tour dates and saw where he was making a stop in Evansville. I usually am a radio scanner, meaning if I don’t like the song on the radio I hit the scan button and Read more…

Quote of the day…lmao! It’s about AC/DC

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Taken from a post on blabbermouth about AC/DC….

time marches on, all things must end. I think most fans will be happy just to see old men drag themselves out on stage and just attempt it? For mellow bands, its one thing, but for these hard rock howitzers, its just not the same. How old is too old for Angus to do the strip tease? I noticed most people were making faces in 2007. It looked like Jacob Marley rattling around, taking his clothes off.

Interview with local “Blues Legend” Boscoe France!

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

boscoeA couple of weeks ago I was doing what I normally do around lunch time. I was checking out WKTG’s “Out to Lunch” with the our local radio celebrity Pat BallardPat is a great supporter of the music scene and showcases the local talent, plus he plays some kick ass old school metal that I cut my young guitar playing teeth on back in the day.. On this particular day he had Boscoe France on and they were discussing the “blues”. Though I am not really a fan of the “blues” unless the scales are played faster and through distortion pedals and Marshall amps, I found this interview Pat did with Boscoe very interesting and informative at the same time. So I called Pat up said hello to the guys and Pat threw on some Maiden for me and I enjoyed the rest of the show as I always do. A few days later I hit Boscoe up on Facebook and the rest “as they say” is history! Check out Boscoe’s interview below. Click on his name and it will take you to his Facebook page!

chuck

My musical heroes are a short list.Duke Madison was my uncle he played music at all our family functions. He was the first guitarist/singer I reckon I ever saw.He would always let me hang out and play.Once my folks saw I was totally hooked My folks got me a guitar. My Daddy bartered with a friend for a guitar and that was that.I listened to my moms kiss,Beatles, and skynyrd.I love Duane Allman, Freddie King, and Elmore James. When I was around four or five I saw the blues brothers movie and found soul music.
3. Do you have any advice for someone just getting started in playing music? Any pitfalls they should avoid?

Advice from me is practice your instrument.Be good at it.Then go out and play.I would also advice that you should take the music seriously and not be shitfaced.I had my bout with drugs and alcohol and I am happy to say I came out the other side fairly unharmed.I can say that club owners like dealing with professional people.I have been blessed to play a lot of shows and for that reason I think of every show as special.Maybe I met this friend at this gig Read more…
